Absolute Independence

you must be willing to change

Ok, so my 20 year old son decided he would fix dinner tonight--Spaghetti, Salad and Texas Toast. I know most of you are wondering how I can have a 20 year-old son, when I'm only 25, but that's another story for a different day....

Anyhow, I am a Weight Management Consultant. Well, that's one of the hats I wear. I am happy to say that I've helped many reach and maintain their optimum weight through Transitions, my company's weight management system.
I decided that this year would be the year for me to lose those last terrible 10.

So, our dinner tonight wasn't too bad: spaghetti sauce, minimal carbs; angel hair pasta, cooked al dente, medium carb content; salad--no carbs; Texas Toast--CARB COUNT OF THE CHARTS!!!!
Have any of you ever had Texas Toast? If you have, then you know you can't open the freezer and look at it and not end up stuffing your face with it within 5 minutes.

But, does it have to be sooo decadent????

This is how it's described on the Pepperidge Farm website (Pepperidge Farm--need I say more?) "Thick, melt-in-your-mouth toast is topped with herbs and garlic or cheese. Sinfully-rich slices heat up in your oven in just 5 minutes". Who can resist THAT??? Then they have the nerve to post the nutrition information!

Being a Weight Management Consultant, I am privy some of the tricks of the trade that can keep some of the food I eat from clinging to these hips of mine. Here are three quick tips for my fellow Texas Toast lovers out there:

1) Drink an 8 ounce glass of warm lemon water first thing in the morning. This aids your gall bladder in processing fat.

2) Eat a salad (or any raw veggies) before your main meals. This will slow down the digestive process and minimize the conversion of glucose to fat.

3) Break up your main meals. You've probably heard this before, but eating smaller more frequent meals really does help to improve the body's metabolism.

Unfortunately, there are no quick tips to help my with my love of Texas Toast. I'll probably have to take care of Texas Toast the old-fashioned way and work it off!
